Among other things, I love to put code bits in my Google Notebook for storage and later reference. It's unfortunate that Google is no longer developing or supporting Notebook, and not allowing new users to register for it, but thankfully they won't be eliminating it for the time being.
One problem with no longer supporting it is the Firefox plugin for Google Notebook that I've really come to enjoy. When you try to add it, an error appears telling you that this version of Firefox doesn't supoprt the plugin. With no further development, that means we're out of luck, right?
Not exactly. There is a way we can still add it to the current version 3.5.
Firefox plugins are essentially zip archives. Go and download the extension (choose "save as", don't click to install it). Open the .xpi file in either Winzip, Winrar, 7-zip, (etc...) and open the "install.rdf" file. You will find text in there that says "3.0.*". Replace it with "4.0.*". Update the archive and drag the .xpi file into Firefox. This will install the extension.
Now I can access all of my code samples saved in Google Notes with ease as I could before.
