I have used scripting inside Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator as a part of various graphics work for CADlink. The point of this project was to add an option in the program menus of Photoshop and Illustrator flatten pdf images to a temporary file and open it up inside CADlink's SignLab software for further editing before sending it to the print queue. The point of this was to eliminate issues created by transparencies within the software.
